So firstly I was randomly watching the Diane Von Furstenberg Spring 2015 show and saw some really beautiful pieces. I also thought the models looked stunning, a lot of them actually smiled and they also weren't too skinny. I saw this dress and was quite surprised at how similar it is to one I spotted when I was browsing in Peacocks the other day:
I mean obviously the style is very different but the print is almost identical! I know the High Street shops are influenced by high end designers but I haven't seen a similarity like this lately. The Peacocks dress is £16 here. I quite like it but I probably won't buy it because I already have enough summer dresses, and I don't really love it enough if that makes sense. However this dress is definitely a cheerful, summery piece and it makes me quite happy just looking at it - it's almost Spring so hopefully it's not that long to go now until it will hopefully be warm enough to wear dresses like this!
And here is Naomi Campbell, proving that she's still got it. I'm not actually that keen on her dress here but she still looks amazing, and would still look great in a bin bag:
Moving on to awards show looks, there were some amazing dresses at the Oscars last Sunday!
Here are a few of my favourites:
Rosamund Pike gave birth in December last year and has such an incredible figure! I love everything about this custom made Givenchy dress, from its colour, to its shape, to the lace detail. It tucks her in at the waist and she looks stunning.
Emma Stone looks amazing in this Elie Saab gown! Elie Saab does such gorgeous dresses and this one suits Emma really well. I don't have any desire to be famous but I'd love the money and the occasion to wear a dress like this, even just once.
Kylie Minogue looks gorgeous in this Ralph & Russo couture dress at the Oscars afterparty. I love this colour and style on Kylie. The gold heels are lovely too!
Going back to runway shows, I had never heard of Matthew Williamson before this year's London Fashion Week, but I thought his collection was beautiful! As Vogue described, it was 'mystical vibes meets bohemian luxury'. You can view all the looks here, but here are two of my favourites:
The dress on the left has a gorgeous print and gives the model a really nice shape, whereas the one on the right, though not something I would personally wear because it's so low-cut, has really pretty detail!
On to Topshop Unique, here are a few of my favourite looks:
I wasn't sure about the thick fur going on on the sleeves of these two at first, but it does look nice and warm! I also usually like the look of brighter coats (anyone who knows me will know that I love my red Next coat which I've had for maybe five years now) however this winter I've mostly been wearing a lovely cream Primark coat that only cost me £25, yes it's more likely to get visibly dirty quickly but it goes with everything and I really like it! So similarly this Topshop coat may not be that interesting a colour but it will go with everything. That said come Autumn this year I'd love to own a pink coat in a similar style!
Also, the jacket along with the rest of the look on the right overall looks very simple, effortless and chic.
Saving the best to last, a bit more Elie Saab. I mean, this guy does some bloody amazing clothes. I really liked most of the looks from the Spring/Summer Ready to Wear show, and then I saw the Couture show the other day and basically every single dress is stunning. I'm beginning to wonder if I should just dedicate a whole separate blog post to Elie Saab and his amazing gowns, because narrowing down a few of my favourites is quite difficult!
Also, I stumbled across this website and I think these backstage pictures from the Ready to Wear show are really nice! Some of the models (understandably) look very happy to be in their dresses, and I don't know, I just think it's rare but nice to see the models smiling. I don't think they're meant to usually because it might distract from the clothes or whatever.
I've ended up choosing two looks that I adore from each show and personally I would definitely wear that blue playsuit (can a high street shop pretty please make a very similar one?!) I think the colour is perfect for summer, whereas I don't think I need to explain how beautiful the three dresses are!
That's it for this slightly long fashion post, hope you enjoyed it!
I would love to know what your favourite outfits or trends are that you've spotted lately? :)
